Lessons Learned – Week 11

This week of class we refined the business plan we had drafted in the past week! Although we had put in lots of work already, we made small adjustments to the structure of the plan and further developed on parts in the area of risk assessment. Moreover, we started working on our pitchdeck for fload. We were provided with the basic structure and important contents that should be included in the pitch. Based on these we developed a storyline for the pitch. Further, we drew slides corresponding to the storyline on paper. After 2 rounds of feedback and continuous improvement of the storyline and the drawn slides, we started creating actual slides in PowerPoint. While doing so we committed ourselves to using as little writing as possible, to creating very clean charts, and to using the predefined fload icons from our prior PowerPoint template. The resulting final pitchdeck was then divided into subparts and it was decided who presents what subpart. Following we presented the pitch 3 times as a whole team and gave each other feedback to improve our presentation performance. Our pitchdeck and our business plan can be found under the domain “class presentations”:

Apart from classwork we had the following 2 learnings:

MEETINGS IN PERSON ARE IMPORTANT

This week we had no time to meet as a team in person. We tried to delegate tasks on slack and track the task delegation on trello. However, we quickly realized that without meeting in person, miscommunications are more likely to occur. Consequently, some tasks were not done or not completed within our set deadline. This week we will meet in person again to ensure that miscommunications to not hamper our group work.

FEEDBACK HELPS A LOT TO IMPROVE OUR BLOG

2 weeks ago we were presented with grades for our blogs. Although we got the best grade out of our class we were not too content with the grade achieved. This week we received feedback on weaknesses of our blog and were explained areas for improvement. This helps us a lot to improve our blog. We have already started working on subpages and are motivated to implement the recommended changes in the feedback given. We also hope to receive further feedback after changes have been implemented to ensure continuous improvement!
